At Anderson Longmore & Higham we provide the full range of options to couples seeking to resolve issues upon the breakdown of their relationship. In addition to Collaborative Law and Court Representation, we offer couples a Family Mediation Service to resolve all issues, including financial and child-related matters arising upon separation or divorce.
The Family Mediation Service is headed by Edward Cooke, a Mediator trained by Resolution, the nationwide organisation of Family Law specialists committed to the constructive resolution of family disputes. Edward is head of Anderson Longmore & Higham’s Family Law team and is based at the firm’s Chichester office. Mediation is, however, also available to couples at our Petworth, Billingshurst and Storrington offices.
The government recently announced that from 6 April 2011, it will be compulsory for couples, save in certain limited circumstances, to attend a Mediation information and assessment meeting before either person can make a Court application with respect to financial or child related issues upon divorce.
Many Family Law professionals believe that this development is very significant. It is hoped that the continued development and growth of Mediation and Collaborative Law will enable many more couples to resolve issues arising upon their divorce in a more constructive and dignified setting.
